CAMS Certification
National Recognition for Communication‑Accessible Organisations
CAMS Certification is Australia’s first formal recognition system for organisations that meet the requirements of the Communication Accessibility Management System (CAMS). Certification demonstrates that an organisation provides safe, equitable, multimodal communication access for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, non‑verbal, neurodivergent, and communication‑diverse people.
CAMS Certification is designed for government agencies, councils, workplaces, community venues, churches, health services, and public‑facing organisations.
Why CAMS Certification Matters
CAMS Certification shows that an organisation:
meets communication‑access obligations
provides predictable, communication‑safe pathways
supports communication‑diverse users
reduces communication‑related risk
aligns with human‑rights and inclusion frameworks
demonstrates leadership in accessibility
Certification is a public signal of safety, equity, and inclusion.
Certification Levels
CAMS Certification has three levels, each reflecting a different stage of communication‑access maturity.
1. CAMS‑Ready
Foundational compliance
This level recognises organisations that have:
completed a CAMS audit
implemented essential communication‑safe practices
established at least one multimodal contact pathway
begun aligning policies and staff practice with CAMS
demonstrated commitment to communication accessibility
CAMS‑Ready is ideal for organisations beginning their communication‑access journey.
2. CAMS‑Aligned
Strong, consistent compliance
This level recognises organisations that have:
implemented the majority of CAMS Core Standard requirements
adopted predictable, multimodal communication pathways
trained staff in communication‑safe practice
aligned policies, procedures, and customer service with CAMS
demonstrated lived‑experience engagement
CAMS‑Aligned organisations provide reliable, predictable communication access across most services.
3. CAMS‑Certified
Full compliance — national benchmark
This is the highest level of recognition. CAMS‑Certified organisations have:
fully implemented the CAMS Core Standard
met all requirements of their sector annex (Government, Health, Community, Digital, etc.)
established comprehensive multimodal communication pathways
embedded lived‑experience governance
demonstrated communication‑safe environments across all services
completed a full audit with verification
CAMS‑Certified organisations are national exemplars of communication accessibility.
The Certification Process
The CAMS Certification process is predictable, transparent, and supportive. It includes:
1. Initial Consultation
We meet with your organisation to understand:
your services
your communication pathways
your access needs
your sector requirements
This helps us determine the appropriate annex and audit scope.
2. CAMS Audit
A lived‑experience‑led audit assesses:
multimodal communication pathways
digital and non‑digital communication
staff practice
policy and governance
emergency communication
neurodivergent‑safe design
physical and environmental communication access
You receive a detailed report and CAMS score.
3. Improvement Roadmap
We provide a clear, practical roadmap that outlines:
high‑priority improvements
medium‑priority improvements
long‑term recommendations
training needs
policy alignment steps
This roadmap is tailored to your organisation.
4. Implementation Support
Organisations may choose to:
implement changes independently
work with Signbridge for guidance
access training and resources
consult with lived‑experience advisors
Support is flexible and scalable.
5. Verification & Certification
Once improvements are complete, Signbridge conducts a verification review. If all requirements are met, the organisation receives:
a CAMS Certification badge
a certification statement
a listing in the CAMS Registry (optional)
a communication‑access profile for public display
Certification is valid for three years, with annual check‑ins.
Sector Annexes
CAMS Certification is tailored to your sector through annexes, including:
Government
Health
Emergency services
Community venues
Churches & faith communities
Digital services
Education
Transport
Workplaces & customer‑service environments
Each annex defines the minimum communication‑access requirements for that sector.
Benefits of CAMS Certification
Certified organisations gain:
improved service quality
reduced communication‑related risk
stronger community trust
alignment with human‑rights obligations
predictable, communication‑safe environments
recognition as leaders in accessibility
readiness for future regulatory requirements
CAMS Certification is a future‑proof investment in inclusion and safety.
